At the Unified International Technical Conference on Refractories UNITECR, a good 250 speakers from all over the world will be speaking over three days about current developments relating to the manufacture, application or new properties of refractory products. The main theme: The Carbon Challenge.

The world's leading refractory manufacturers and their customers from the steel or cement industry and/or from other segments with high-temperature processes in production are expected at this conference.

The exhibition space for manufacturers, institutes or suppliers is already fully booked.

At the opening, Dr. Robert Habeck Federal Minister for Economics and Climate Protection was asked to present his view of sustainable management for the energy-intensive sectors - also beyond national borders.

For the customer side it could be won Dr. Marie Jaroni for a lecture. She heads the "Decarbonization and Sustainability" team at thyssenkrupp Steel and has a decisive influence on the planned opening of the DRI direct reduction plant in Duisburg in 2026.

The physicist and science journalist Ranga Yogeshwar provides suggestions and impulses for the resilience of the refractory industry and the adaptability to changing framework conditions and customer requirements.

A poster exhibition with a good 80 panels is being prepared in a prominent location. The candidates can highlight what is special about their work in a poster slam and win a prize.

The Gustav Eirich Award GEA, which we hold every year together with Maschinenfabrik Gustav Eirich GmbH & Co KG, will also be presented at UNITECR in 2023 in front of 1,000 participants.
